Château Latour-Martillac Red
2000
The 2000 Vintage
A very wet and cool weather near the end of May did not forecast an easy blooming. On the contrary it was quick and even. One could see the color of the ripening merlot berries change as early as the third week of July. Then, exceptional temperatures in August and a nice sunny September month completed thorough maturity of all the varietals. The last cabernets were gathered on October 10th with exceptional weather conditions.

Tasting notes
The Wine Advocate by Robert Parker – 89 pts (2003/04)
” Sweet cedar, plum, currant, and fresh herbs cascade from this evolved, dense ruby/purple-colored 2000. The flavors mirror the aromas – big, sweet, flamboyant notes of cedar, mulberries, black currants, and smoke can be found. Medium to full-bodied, ripe, concentrated, and substantial, this impressive effort should be at its finest between 2005-2016. “
Wine Spectator – 92 pts (2003/03)
2002 Wine Spectator Top 100: 31rd
“Very, very impressive for this estate. Blackberry and cigar tobacco, with hints of toasted oak. Full-bodied, with loads of velvety tannins and a long finish. Best after 2010.”
