Château Latour-Martillac Red
2004
The 2004 Vintage
A very wet and cool weather near the end of May did not forecast an easy blooming. On the contrary it was quick and even. One could see the color of the ripening merlot berries change as early as the third week of July. Then, Exceptional temperatures in August and a nice sunny September month completed thorough maturity of all the varietals.
The harvest took place in the best conditions, with the picking of the different grape varieties at the top of their maturity. A beautiful Indian summer allowed us to obtain a great elegance from the Cabernet Sauvignons.
Period of harvest
From September 24th to October 20th, 2004

32% Merlot
5% Petit Verdot
Tasting notes
Wine Enthusiast – 89 pts (2007/06)
« One of the great values from Pessac-Léognan, Latour-Martillac’s 2004 is deeply colored and smooth, with some intensely structured tannins and fresh fruit flavors. »
Wine Spectator – 88 pts (2007/03)
« Subtle aromas of chocolate, dried herbs and fruit follow through to a medium- to full-bodied palate, with fine tannins and a delicate, fruity finish. Best after 2010. »
