Château Latour-Martillac Red
2012
The 2012 Vintage
After a long and dry winter the first buds appeared during the first days of March although the colder months of April slowed the blossoming dow and the first flowers didn’t flourish until the 25th May. Summer set in towards mid-July and this led to slow berry ripening and from the 15th August onwards, in order to homogenize the fruit, green harvesting was carried out strongly. The warmer temperatures in the second half of August and September days helped ripen the berries nicely.

Tasting notes
The Wine Advocate by Robert Parker – 90 pts (2015/04)
« From the Jean Kressmann family, Latour-Martillac has made major strides in quality in both white and red wines for well over 10-15 years. The 2012 has a dense ruby/purple color, and better integration of oak is apparent in this medium to full-bodied wine that shows lots of plum, blackcurrant, licorice and subtle earth. It is medium to full-bodied, with ripe tannin and a long finish. It is another successful 2012 from Pessac-Léognan, one of the top appellations in this vintage. Drink it over the next 15-20 years. »
Jancis Robinson – 16 (2014/12)
« Quite racy and pacy on the nose. Nicely balanced but in minor key with just a suggestion of stewed fruit underneath. Fine tannins well managed. This could pass muster as a decent wine – unless served next to one from a greater vintage. Drink 2018-2026. »
