Château Latour-Martillac White
2005
The 2005 Vintage
This vintage mostly owes its exceptional quality to the drought that went on during the whole year, apart from april. This dry and mild weather had been ideal and led to a fast and homogeneous blooming in early june. The vine gave us berries that were not only sweet and full of aromas, but also with an excellent acidity level, thus helping the expression fresh fruits. The mild warmth of the summer explains the rich and fruity aromas of the white vine. The cool nights during august allowed the berries of our two main grape varieties, sémillon and sauvignon to stay healthy and express their style.

Tasting notes
Wine Spectator – 92 pts (2008/03)
« Very subtle aromas of Brazilian lime, lemon and slate. Full-bodied, with intense fruit and acidity and a long aftertaste of mineral, green apple, melon and honey. Very lively and intense. Extremely well done for this estate. Best after 2010. 2,665 cases made. »
The Wine Advocate by Robert Parker – 90 pts (2008/04)
« This crisp, Sauvignon Blanc-dominated 2005 offers up subtle notes of green beans, lemon oil, crushed rocks, and white flowers. Medium-bodied with good acidity as well as a touch of well-integrated smoky oak, it can be drunk now and over the next 10-15 years. »
